Concor Solutions - Brochure Stories ::
|
Phillips Plastics, a leading custom molder, had a unique challenge;
using a two-shot press, their application required 30% glass-filled
nylon on the first shot and Polypropylene on the second. Because of
material characteristics and processing requirements, screw recovery
time was too slow.
Concor designed a custom screw and barrel unit with a longer screw
L/D ratio and a full-length barrier flight to process the Polypropylene
faster and more completely. Months later, part design changes in wall
thickness created short fills in the nylon shot, Concor upsized the
injection unit to compensate.
Cycle time was reduced by 20% and extra inspection procedures were
eliminated. |
